Hey-o Minneapolis friends!

Did you know?  Common Roots Cafe in the Uptown area is where it’s AT.

Common Roots Cafe was recently featured on the Eat Better America Healthy Restaurant Road Trip as a tasty and healthy restaurant in the Minneapolis area. I’ve been hearing good things about this place for a while, so when given the chance to try it out, it was an easy yes!

Although the quantity of food we ate probably doesn’t qualify as healthy (macaroni and cheese with spinach walnut pesto, basil, mozzarella and Parmesan as a STARTER), it felt awesome to enjoy a meal of fresh, organic, creative food that was locally sourced.

This breakfast is my baby.

Ever since February when I needed a break from those yummy pumpkin oats, I’ve been getting myself out of bed with this. Every.single.day.

Reality check: I’ve been known to exaggerate on the blog and occasionally in real life, too, because apparently the blog isn’t real life? Anyways, I swear on a jar of honey that this is not an exaggeration. I eat this oatmeal every day.

Hot, fresh, baked spicy fries are going to come out of your oven tonight. They just are. And I’m putting you under citizen’s arrest if you don’t cover your face in garlic cheese sauce.

Did I say face? I meant fries. Fries, face, maybe both.

As you can see from my extreme close-up photos, I’m having trouble keeping my face away from these little guys.

You guysss.

I’m looking at the world through Mexican-flavored glasses.

I may not definitely do not have the looks, the suave, or the rhythm whatsoever, but I swear I have Mexican flavors in my soul. Mexi-Italian fusion skinny pasta?  I’m telling you, it’s gotta be in my soul.

I did take salsa lessons once.

I would be lying if I told you it was just a teensy bit bad. Ay caramba.

Sometimes I get to the end of the day and realize that I didn’t eat ANY vegetables all day.  Like, zero.  Usually it’s a Monday and it’s the day after Easter.

Wait, are there vegetables in teriyaki buffalo chicken wings?

No?  No.

White Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies

I don’t mean to brag, but I just ate an extra marshmallowy bowl of Marshmallow Mateys for dinner. And by a bowl, I mean a box. And by Marshmallow Matey’s, I do not mean Lucky Charms.  Seriously?  I’m not even going to defend that.

Light BBQ Chicken Pizza

I’ve always been fashionably late with… fashions. Like Capris. As a brace-faced-bad-bangs 8th grader, I was convinced that I would never ever wear them.  My friends went capri crazy but I resisted.  As luck would have it, I came to realize that my friends were right and now I have a closet full of capris [...]

Peanut Butter S’mores Bars

Thumbnail image for Peanut Butter S’mores Bars

Sometimes I just can’t stop thinking about dessert. Sometimes, as in 365 days a year. I don’t stand a chance focusing on an-ee-thing for one second when I have images of buttery graham cracker cookie dough layered with chocolate, peanut butter, and marshmallow cream running through my brain.  And drool running down my chin.  And [...]
